Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place on a sturdy, flat surface.

  1. Remove machine and accessories from packaging.
  2. Attach power cord to machine and plug into a 120V AC outlet.
  3. Install foot pedal and connect to machine.
  4. Remove any protective packaging from needle area and free arm.
  5. Install needle securely with flat side toward the back.
  6. Wind bobbin and insert into bobbin case following diagram.
  7. Thread upper thread using built-in thread guide and needle threader.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from needle area during setup and operation. Ensure machine is unplugged during needle installation.

First-Time Operation

Power on machine; practice on scrap fabric first.

  1. Select straight stitch: Turn stitch selection dial to straight stitch symbol.
  2. Set stitch length: Adjust dial to medium setting (2.5 mm).
  3. Set stitch width: For straight stitch, set to 0.
  4. Lower presser foot lever.
  5. Gently press foot pedal to start sewing.
  6. Use reverse lever at beginning and end to secure stitches.
  7. Practice controlling speed with foot pedal.

CAUTION! Always turn handwheel toward you (counterclockwise) to avoid timing issues. Never force the handwheel.

Basic Sewing Techniques

Follow these steps for common sewing tasks.

  1. Straight Seam: Select straight stitch (1). Align fabric edges. Lower presser foot. Sew with consistent speed, guiding fabric gently.
  2. Zigzag Edge Finish: Select zigzag stitch (2). Set width to 3-4. Sew along raw edge to prevent fraying.
  3. 4-Step Buttonhole:
    • Step 1: Select buttonhole stitch. Sew left side.
    • Step 2: Change setting. Sew front bar tack.
    • Step 3: Change setting. Sew right side.
    • Step 4: Change setting. Sew back bar tack.
  4. Reverse Stitching: Press and hold reverse lever at beginning and end of seams to lock stitches.
  5. Changing Presser Feet: Raise needle to highest position. Lift presser foot lever. Press button on back of foot holder to release. Snap new foot into place.

WARNING! Always raise needle to highest position before changing presser feet or removing fabric.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance.

  1. Daily: Remove lint from bobbin area and feed dogs with small brush.
  2. Weekly: Oil hook race and other moving parts as indicated in manual (use sewing machine oil only).
  3. Monthly: Clean under needle plate (remove screws to access).
  4. As Needed: Replace needle after 8 hours of sewing or if damaged.

Cleaning: Unplug machine before cleaning. Use soft, dry cloth. Never use compressed air or liquids.

CAUTION! Use only sewing machine oil. Other oils can damage internal components.
