Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Machine won't sew Not plugged in, foot control disconnected Check power connection, ensure foot control is plugged into machine
Thread bunching underneath Incorrect bobbin threading, tension too loose Re-thread bobbin, increase upper thread tension
Needle breaks Wrong needle type, bent needle, pulling fabric Replace with correct needle, don't pull fabric while sewing
Skipped stitches Dull needle, wrong needle for fabric, incorrect threading Change needle, use correct needle type, re-thread machine
Fabric not feeding Presser foot pressure too light, feed dogs lowered Increase presser foot pressure, raise feed dogs
Uneven stitches Incorrect tension, dirty tension discs, poor quality thread Adjust tension, clean tension discs, use quality thread

Common Issues

  • Thread breaking: Check for rough spots on needle plate, use better quality thread
  • Machine jams: Remove fabric, turn handwheel backward to free mechanism
  • Noisy operation: Clean lint buildup, oil moving parts as instructed
  • Buttonhole issues: Use stabilizer, ensure proper foot attachment
  • Tension problems: Always re-thread completely before adjusting tension
  • Light not working: Check bulb, ensure machine is plugged in
