Unpacking & Setup

Carefully unpack all components. Place the machine on a stable, well-lit table.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from the machine and accessories.
  2. Attach the Power Cord to the machine's rear socket and plug into a standard 120V AC outlet.
  3. Plug the Foot Control into its designated port on the machine.
  4. Slide the removable flat bed accessory to the left to expose the free arm for storage, or keep it attached for flat sewing.
  5. Install the Presser Foot by lowering the presser foot lever, aligning the foot's bar under the ankle, and tightening the screw.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from the needle area during setup and operation. Ensure the machine is unplugged when not in use or during maintenance.

First-Time Operation

Before sewing your first stitch, complete these setup steps.

  1. Winding the Bobbin: Place thread spool on spool pin. Guide thread through bobbin winder tension disc. Place empty bobbin on winder shaft, engage winder, and press foot control to wind. Stop when full.
  2. Inserting the Bobbin: Open the bobbin cover plate. Drop the bobbin into the case with thread running counterclockwise. Pull the thread into the slot and under the tension spring.
  3. Threading the Upper Thread: Raise the presser foot and needle to highest position. Follow the numbered threading path on the machine from spool pin to needle, using the built-in needle threader if needed.
  4. Drawing Up the Bobbin Thread: Hold the upper thread tail. Turn the handwheel toward you one full rotation to bring the bobbin thread up through the needle plate. Pull both thread tails under the presser foot toward the rear.

CAUTION! Always turn the handwheel toward you (counter-clockwise) only. Never force the handwheel.

Controls and Functions

Main controls are located on the front and right side of the machine.

Stitch Selection Dial: Turn to select one of the 23 stitch patterns (symbols and numbers indicated). Stitch Length Dial: Controls stitch length (0-4). Higher numbers for longer stitches. Stitch Width Dial: Controls zigzag width (0-5). Set to 0 for straight stitch. Reverse Stitch Lever: Press and hold to sew in reverse for reinforcement. Handwheel: Manually raises/lowers the needle. Turn toward you only. Presser Foot Lever: Raises and lowers the presser foot. Bobbin Winder & Stop: Located on top right. Engages to wind bobbin; disengages automatically when full.

Basic Stitching Guide

Follow these steps for basic straight and zigzag stitching.

  1. Select the desired stitch pattern using the Stitch Selection Dial.
  2. Set the Stitch Length and Width dials appropriately (e.g., Length 2.5, Width 0 for a standard straight stitch).
  3. Place fabric under the presser foot, lowering the needle into the fabric at your starting point by turning the handwheel.
  4. Lower the presser foot lever.
  5. Gently press the Foot Control to start sewing. Guide the fabric gently with your hands; do not push or pull.
  6. At the end of the seam, press and hold the Reverse Lever to sew a few stitches backward for locking.
  7. Raise the presser foot and pull the fabric and threads toward the rear. Cut threads using the built-in thread cutter.

Tip: Practice on scrap fabric first. Always test stitch length, width, and tension on a fabric scrap similar to your project.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Daily/Project Cleaning: Unplug the machine. Use the small lint brush to remove lint and thread bits from the bobbin area, feed dogs, and around the needle plate.
  2. Oiling: This is a mechanical machine that requires periodic oiling. Use only high-quality sewing machine oil. Apply a single drop to moving parts as indicated in the diagram (e.g., where the needle bar goes into the housing). Run the machine on a scrap fabric to absorb excess oil.
  3. Needle Replacement: Replace the needle after every 8-10 hours of sewing or with every new project. Loosen the needle clamp screw, remove old needle, insert new needle with flat side to the rear, and tighten screw firmly.

CAUTION! Always unplug the machine before cleaning or performing any maintenance. Never use compressed air to clean, as it can force lint deeper into the mechanism.
