Specifications

Controls and Stitch Selection

Primary controls are located on the right side of the machine. Stitch Selection Dial: Turn to select the desired stitch pattern (symbols indicated on the dial face). Stitch Length Dial: Controls the distance between stitches (0 for no feed, 4 for longest). Stitch Width Dial: Controls the side-to-side width of zigzag and decorative stitches. Reverse Sewing Lever: Hold down to sew in reverse. Handwheel: Manually raise/lower the needle and advance the machine. Turn towards you only.

Tension Dial: Adjusts upper thread tension (usually set between 4-5 for balanced stitches on medium-weight fabrics). Presser Foot Pressure Dial: Adjust for lightweight (lower number) or heavyweight (higher number) fabrics.

Basic Sewing Techniques

Straight Stitch: For seams and topstitching. Select straight stitch symbol. Zigzag Stitch: For finishing edges, appliqué, or stretch fabrics. Select zigzag symbol and adjust width. Blind Hem Stitch: For nearly invisible hems on garments. Use the blind hem foot. Four-Step Buttonhole:

  1. Mark buttonhole position on fabric.
  2. Attach buttonhole foot. Select Step 1 (bartack) on dial and sew.
  3. Select Step 2 (right side) and sew to desired length.
  4. Select Step 3 (bartack) and sew.
  5. Select Step 4 (left side) and sew back to start.

Free-Motion Sewing: Lower the feed dogs using the lever, attach a darning foot, and move fabric manually in any direction.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance.

  1. Unplug the machine before any maintenance.
  2. Cleaning: Remove the needle plate screws and plate. Use the small brush to remove lint and dust from the bobbin area and feed dogs. Wipe exterior with a soft, dry cloth.
  3. Oiling: This model generally requires minimal oiling. Refer to the manual for specific oiling points if necessary. Use only high-quality sewing machine oil.
  4. Needle Replacement: Replace the needle regularly (after every 8-10 hours of sewing or with each new project). Loosen the needle clamp screw, remove old needle, insert new needle with flat side to the back, and tighten screw.
  5. Bobbin Care: Use only Class 15 bobbins. Wind evenly and avoid overfilling.

CAUTION! Never use compressed air to clean the machine as it can force lint deeper into the mechanism.
