Stitch Selection Dial: Turn to select one of 7 stitch symbols (straight, zigzag, blind hem, elastic stitch, etc.).

| Symptom | Possible Cause | Corrective Action |
|---|---|---|
| Thread bunching underneath | Incorrect bobbin threading | Re-thread bobbin ensuring correct direction and tension. |
| Needle breaks | Wrong needle size, bent needle, incorrect insertion | Replace needle, ensure flat side is to back, use correct size for fabric. |
| Machine won't run | Not plugged in, foot control disconnected | Check power connections, ensure foot control is firmly plugged into machine. |
| Uneven stitches | Incorrect tension, dirty feed dogs | Clean feed dogs, adjust tension dial (usually 4), re-thread completely. |
| Fabric not feeding | Presser foot not lowered, feed dogs dropped | Lower presser foot, check that feed dog lever is in raised position. |
| Thread keeps breaking | Old thread, incorrect tension, burred needle | Use new quality thread, reduce tension, replace needle. |
| Buttonhole not forming | Incorrect foot, steps out of sequence | Use buttonhole foot, follow 4 steps in order without turning fabric. |
Reset: Unplug machine for 5 minutes if electronic issues occur (though mechanical, this clears any minor electrical glitches).
