Basic Sewing Techniques

Supports a wide variety of fabrics from lightweight silk to medium-weight denim.

  1. Straight Stitch: For seams and topstitching. Use All-Purpose Foot.
  2. Zigzag Stitch: For finishing edges, sewing stretch fabrics, or appliqué.
  3. Buttonhole: Attach Buttonhole Foot, place button in holder, and let machine sew automatically.
  4. Blind Hem: Use Blind Hem Foot and select the blind hem stitch for nearly invisible hems.
  5. Overcasting: Use Overcast Foot with a zigzag or overcast stitch to finish raw edges.
  6. Darning/Embroidery: Attach Darning/Embroidery Foot, drop feed dogs, and use hoop for free-motion work.
  7. Zipper Installation: Use Zipper Foot for centered or invisible zippers.

WARNING! Always use the correct presser foot for the selected stitch. Do not pull or push fabric forcefully; let the feed dogs move it.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Unplug the machine before any maintenance. Regular cleaning prevents lint buildup and ensures smooth operation.

  1. Remove the needle plate screws and lift off the needle plate.
  2. Use the small lint brush to remove lint and thread bits from the feed dog area and bobbin case.
  3. Reinstall the needle plate.
  4. Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use solvents or sprays.
  5. Oil the machine only as specified in the manual (specific points, using sewing machine oil only).

CAUTION! Never use compressed air to clean the machine as it can force lint deeper into the mechanism.
