Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Machine won't run Power disconnected, foot control unplugged Check power cord connections, ensure foot control is plugged in
Thread bunching underneath Incorrect threading, bobbin inserted wrong Re-thread top and bobbin, ensure bobbin turns clockwise
Needle breaks Wrong needle type, bent needle, incorrect insertion Replace with correct needle, ensure flat side faces back
Skipped stitches Dull needle, wrong needle for fabric, incorrect tension Change needle, match needle to fabric type, adjust tension
Fabric not feeding Presser foot pressure too light, feed dogs lowered Increase presser foot pressure, raise feed dogs
Uneven stitches Incorrect tension, dirty tension discs, poor quality thread Clean tension discs, adjust tension, use quality thread

Common Issues & Solutions

  • Thread breaks frequently: Check for rough spots on needle plate, use better quality thread
  • Machine makes unusual noise: Clean lint buildup, check for loose screws
  • Buttonhole doesn't form properly: Stabilize fabric, use interfacing, check buttonhole foot attachment
  • Stitch length inconsistent: Clean feed dogs, check for worn feed dog mechanism
  • Tension problems: Clean between tension discs, re-thread with presser foot raised
  • Bobbin thread showing on top: Decrease upper tension, check bobbin case for lint
