Before sewing your first project, complete these steps to ensure proper setup.
CAUTION! Always unplug the machine before changing needles, cleaning, or performing any maintenance.
Main controls are located on the right side of the machine body.
Stitch Selection Dial: Turn to select any of the 97 stitches. The stitch number and recommended presser foot are indicated on the dial and the stitch chart.
Stitch Length Dial: Controls the length of the stitch. Set to "0" for bobbin winding. For normal sewing, use settings between 1 and 4.
Stitch Width Dial: Adjusts the width for zigzag and decorative stitches. Set to "0" for straight stitches.
Reverse Stitch Lever: Press and hold to sew in reverse for back-tacking.
Handwheel: Use to manually raise and lower the needle. Always turn toward you.
Presser Foot Lever: Raises and lowers the presser foot.
Bobbin Winder Spindle & Stop: Located on the top right for winding the bobbin.
The M3330 offers a wide variety of stitches for different purposes.
Tip: Always test your stitch settings on a scrap of your project fabric before beginning.
Correct threading is essential for proper stitch formation.
Upper Threading Path: 1. Place spool on vertical pin. 2. Guide thread through the first thread guide on top. 3. Down and around the tension dial. 4. Up and into the take-up lever. 5. Down through the remaining guides. 6. Use the automatic needle threader: Push the lever down as far as it will go, hook the thread onto the hook, then release the lever to pull the thread through the needle eye.
Bobbin Winding (with machine threaded): 1. Disengage the clutch by turning the handwheel until the needle is at its highest point. 2. Place empty bobbin on spindle. 3. Guide thread from the spool through the bobbin winding tension disc. 4. Push the bobbin winder spindle to the right until it clicks. 5. Hold the thread tail, press the foot pedal to wind. It will stop automatically when full. 6. Cut thread, push spindle back to the left, and trim the tail.
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.
CAUTION! Never use compressed air to clean the machine as it can force lint deeper into the mechanism. Never oil the bobbin area unless specified.

| Symptom | Possible Cause | Corrective Action |
|---|---|---|
| Thread bunching under fabric (bird nesting) | Incorrect threading; bobbin inserted wrong | Re-thread the upper thread completely. Ensure bobbin is inserted with thread running counterclockwise and pulls freely. |
| Needle breaks | Wrong needle type/size; bent needle; incorrect needle installation | Replace with a new Singer HAx1 needle. Ensure it is inserted fully with the flat side to the back and clamp screw is tight. |
| Skipped stitches | Dull/bent needle; wrong needle for fabric; thread tension too tight | Change needle. Use ballpoint needle for knits, universal for wovens. Loosen upper tension slightly. |
| Machine won't run | Not plugged in; foot pedal not connected; handwheel is locked | Check all power connections. Ensure the handwheel is unlocked (turn toward you). |
| Uneven or poor stitch quality | Dirty feed dogs; lint in bobbin area; poor quality thread | Clean the machine thoroughly. Use good quality polyester or cotton-covered polyester thread. |
| Automatic needle threader not working | Needle not in highest position; hook is bent or dirty | Turn handwheel to bring needle to its highest position. Ensure the hook is clean and not bent. |
| Fabric not feeding | Presser foot is up; stitch length set to 0; feed dogs lowered | Lower presser foot. Adjust stitch length to >0. Check that feed dogs are in the raised position (standard setting). |
Reset: For persistent electrical issues, unplug the machine for 2 minutes, then plug it back in.
