Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Machine won't run Not plugged in, foot control disconnected, power switch off Check power connection, ensure foot control is plugged in, turn power switch on
Thread breaking Incorrect threading, damaged needle, improper tension Re-thread machine completely, replace needle, adjust tension settings
Skipped stitches Wrong needle type/size, bent needle, incorrect threading Use correct needle for fabric, replace needle, re-thread upper and lower threads
Fabric not feeding Feed dogs lowered, presser foot pressure too light Raise feed dogs, increase presser foot pressure, clean feed dogs
Uneven stitches Incorrect tension, poor quality thread, burr on needle Adjust tension dials, use quality thread, replace needle
Machine jams Thread jam in bobbin area, lint buildup Remove upper thread and bobbin, clean bobbin area, re-thread completely

Common Issues & Solutions

  • Needle breaks: Use correct needle type for fabric, ensure needle is inserted properly, avoid pulling fabric
  • Bobbin thread bunching: Re-thread bobbin correctly, check bobbin tension, clean bobbin case
  • Noisy operation: Clean and oil machine regularly, check for loose parts
  • Buttonhole problems: Use stabilizer, ensure proper foot attachment, test on scrap fabric first
  • Thread nesting: Hold thread tails when starting, ensure presser foot is down
  • Motor runs but needle doesn't move: Check handwheel clutch, ensure machine is properly threaded
