Unpacking and Setup

Remove machine from packaging and inspect all parts.

  1. Place machine on stable table: Ensure surface is flat and vibration-free.
  2. Attach foot controller: Plug into machine port (usually on right side).
  3. Connect power: Plug power cord into machine and then into 120V AC outlet.
  4. Install needle: Loosen needle clamp screw, insert needle with flat side to back, tighten screw.
  5. Attach presser foot: Raise presser foot lever, snap foot into place.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from needle area during setup and operation. Ensure machine is unplugged when attaching accessories.

First-Time Operation

Plug in machine and turn handwheel toward you to raise needle to highest position.

  1. Wind bobbin: Place thread spool on pin, guide thread through bobbin winder tension, press bobbin onto winder shaft, engage winder.
  2. Insert bobbin: Open bobbin cover, drop bobbin in with thread unwinding counterclockwise, pull thread through slot.
  3. Thread upper thread: Follow numbered guides on machine, use automatic threader if available, thread needle from front to back.
  4. Draw up bobbin thread: Hold upper thread, turn handwheel one full rotation, pull upper thread to bring bobbin thread up through needle plate.
  5. Test sew: Place fabric under presser foot, lower foot, gently press foot controller to start sewing.

CAUTION! Always turn handwheel toward you only. Never force the handwheel.

Stitch Selector Dial: Turn to choose stitch pattern (symbols indicate stitch type). Stitch Length Dial: Higher numbers = longer stitches. Handwheel: Manual control of needle position. Bobbin Winder: Located on top right, winds bobbin without threading needle.

Stitch Selection and Adjustment

Select stitch pattern based on sewing task.

  1. Straight stitch: For seams, topstitching (set width to 0).
  2. Zigzag stitch: For finishing edges, appliqué, stretch fabrics.
  3. Blind hem stitch: For nearly invisible hems on garments.
  4. Decorative stitches: For embellishment (select appropriate pattern).
  5. Buttonhole stitch: Use buttonhole foot for consistent buttonholes.

Tip: Always test stitch settings on scrap fabric before sewing project.

Threading and Bobbin Winding

Proper threading is essential for smooth operation.

  1. Upper threading: Follow numbered guides from spool pin to needle.
  2. Automatic needle threader: Lower lever, hook thread, raise lever to pull thread through needle.
  3. Bobbin winding: Disengage clutch by pulling handwheel outward, place spool on pin, thread through bobbin winder tension, press bobbin onto shaft, engage winder until full.
  4. Bobbin insertion: Open cover, drop bobbin so thread unwinds counterclockwise, pull thread through slot and under tension spring.

WARNING! Ensure machine is off when threading. Keep thread path clean of lint.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Unplug machine before maintenance. Regular cleaning prevents lint buildup.

  1. Remove needle plate: Use screwdriver to loosen screws, lift plate.
  2. Clean feed dogs and bobbin area: Use small brush to remove lint and threads.
  3. Oil machine: Apply 1-2 drops of sewing machine oil to moving parts as indicated in diagram (usually hook race, needle bar).
  4. Replace needle: Change needle after every 8-10 hours of sewing or if damaged.
  5. Cover machine: Use dust cover when not in use.

CAUTION! Use only sewing machine oil. Do not use household oils. Wipe excess oil before sewing.
