Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, flat surface.

  1. Remove machine and accessories from packaging.
  2. Attach power cord to machine and plug into 120V AC outlet.
  3. Install foot controller into designated port.
  4. Attach presser foot: Raise presser foot lever, snap foot into place.
  5. Wind bobbin and insert into bobbin case following diagram.
  6. Thread upper thread using automatic needle threader.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from needle area during operation. Ensure machine is unplugged during setup and maintenance.

First-Time Operation

Power on machine; LED light will illuminate.

  1. Select stitch: Turn stitch selection dial to desired pattern.
  2. Adjust stitch length/width: Use dials to set appropriate values for fabric.
  3. Test on scrap fabric: Ensure tension and stitch formation are correct.
  4. Begin sewing: Press foot controller gently to start; use reverse lever to secure stitches.

CAUTION! Always turn handwheel toward you (counterclockwise) to avoid timing issues.

Stitch Selection and Settings

  2. Set stitch length: Shorter for finer fabrics, longer for basting.
  3. Set stitch width: For zigzag and decorative stitches.
  4. Test on scrap fabric to ensure proper tension and formation.

Tip: Always lower presser foot before sewing to engage tension discs.

Using Presser Feet

Includes all-purpose, zipper, buttonhole, button sewing, and blind hem feet.

  1. All-purpose foot: General sewing, straight and zigzag stitches.
  2. Zipper foot: Install zippers and piping.
  3. Buttonhole foot: Create automatic one-step buttonholes.
  4. Button sewing foot: Sew buttons onto fabric.
  5. Blind hem foot: Create nearly invisible hems.

To change feet: Raise presser foot lever, press release button on back of foot holder, remove current foot, snap new foot into place.

WARNING! Ensure needle is in highest position when changing presser feet.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Unplug machine before cleaning. Remove lint and dust regularly.

  1. Remove needle plate screws and lift plate to access bobbin area.
  2. Use small brush to remove lint from feed dogs and bobbin case.
  3. Wipe exterior with soft, dry cloth.
  4. Oil machine as per manual instructions (specific points indicated in diagram).
  5. Replace needle regularly (after 8-10 hours of sewing).

CAUTION! Do not use compressed air; it can force lint deeper into machine. Use only Singer-recommended oil.
