Specifications

Controls and Settings

Access controls via front panel and dials. Front Panel: Stitch selection dial, stitch length dial, stitch width dial, reverse stitch lever, presser foot lever.

Stitch Selection: Turn dial to select desired stitch pattern (straight, zigzag, stretch, decorative). Stitch Length: Adjust from 0-4mm (0 for buttonholes). Stitch Width: Adjust from 0-5mm for zigzag and decorative stitches. Reverse Stitch: Press and hold lever to sew in reverse for securing stitches. Presser Foot Pressure: Adjust dial for different fabric thicknesses (higher number for thicker fabrics).

Stitch Selection and Adjustments

Select appropriate stitch for fabric type and project.

  1. Straight stitch: For seams, topstitching, basting (length 2.5mm for medium fabrics).
  2. Zigzag stitch: For finishing edges, sewing stretch fabrics, appliqué.
  3. Stretch stitches: For knits and elastic fabrics to prevent popped seams.
  4. Decorative stitches: For embellishments and decorative sewing.
  5. Buttonhole stitch: One-step automatic buttonhole with buttonhole foot.

Tip: Always test stitch on fabric scrap before starting project. Adjust tension if needed (normal setting is 4).

Threading and Bobbin Winding

Proper threading is essential for good stitch quality.

  1. Upper threading: Follow numbered path from spool pin to needle. Use automatic needle threader by pushing lever down and hooking thread through hook.
  2. Bobbin winding: Disengage clutch by pulling handwheel outward. Place spool on pin, thread through guides, wind evenly onto bobbin.
  3. Bobbin insertion: Ensure bobbin rotates counterclockwise when pulled. Draw thread through tension spring.
  4. Thread tension: Upper tension dial (0-9), bobbin tension adjusted with small screwdriver (factory set, rarely needs adjustment).

WARNING! Always raise presser foot when threading. Ensure machine is off when winding bobbin.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Daily: Brush out lint from bobbin area and feed dogs after each project.
  2. Weekly: Remove needle plate to clean underneath, oil moving parts with sewing machine oil (2-3 drops).
  3. Monthly: Check belt tension, inspect electrical cord for damage.
  4. Needle replacement: Replace needle after 8-10 hours of sewing or with each new project.
