Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a sturdy table.

  1. Position the Machine: Ensure the machine is stable and the belt access is clear if motor-driven.
  2. Attach Motor (if applicable): Follow motor instructions to mount and align belt on handwheel.
  3. Install Needle: Loosen needle clamp screw, insert needle with flat side to the back, tighten screw.

WARNING! Machine is heavy; lift with care using both hands. Ensure power is off during setup.

First-Time Operation

Power on the machine; practice stitching on scrap fabric.

  2. Thread the Machine: Follow threading path marked on machine from spool to needle.
  3. Insert Bobbin: Place wound bobbin in bobbin case, pull thread through slot and under tension spring.
  4. Draw Up Bobbin Thread: Hold top thread, turn handwheel toward you to bring bobbin thread up through needle plate.

Specifications

Controls and Adjustments

Access controls on the machine's right side and face plate.

Primary Controls: Handwheel, Stitch Length Regulator, Reverse Stitch Lever, Tension Dial, Presser Foot Lifter, Bobbin Winder Stopper.

Stitch Length: Turn dial to set (higher number = longer stitch). 0 is for bobbin winding. Tension: Top tension dial (higher number = tighter). Adjust bobbin tension via screw on bobbin case if needed. Presser Foot Pressure: Adjustable via screw on top of machine (behind pillar). Feed Dogs: Lower lever on bed to drop feed dogs for darning.

Threading the Machine

Correct threading is essential for proper stitch formation.

  1. Raise Needle: Turn handwheel to bring needle to its highest position.
  2. Place Spool: Put thread spool on spool pin at top of machine.
  3. Follow Guides: Thread through first thread guide, down and around tension discs, up through take-up lever, down through lower guides.
  4. Thread Needle: Pass thread from front to back through the needle eye. Leave a 4-inch tail.
  5. Bobbin: Ensure bobbin thread pulls clockwise under tension spring in case.

Tip: Always thread with presser foot raised to open tension discs.

Basic Stitching and Techniques

Master straight stitching, seams, and finishing.

  1. Starting a Seam: Position fabric under needle, lower presser foot. Hold both thread tails to the back. Start slowly, then backstitch 2-3 stitches to lock.
  2. Guiding Fabric: Guide fabric gently with both hands; do not push or pull.
  3. Turning Corners: Stop with needle down in fabric, lift presser foot, pivot fabric, lower foot, continue sewing.
  4. Reverse Stitching: Hold reverse lever engaged while stitching backward for locking stitches.
  5. Finishing: Backstitch, raise needle, lift presser foot, pull fabric to the back and cut threads.

WARNING! Never sew over pins. Remove them as you approach with the needle.

Maintenance & Oil Points

Regular oiling keeps the machine running smoothly.

Oiling: Use only high-quality sewing machine oil. Apply 1-2 drops at each oil point indicated in the diagram (e.g., hinge joints, needle bar, hook race). Run the machine without thread for a minute to distribute oil. Wipe away excess.

Cleaning: Remove needle plate and bobbin case. Use a small brush to remove lint and dust from feed dogs and hook area. Reassemble securely.

CAUTION! Unplug machine before cleaning or oiling. Do not over-oil.
