  2. Work Area: Ensure a clean, well-lit, and stable work surface.
  3. Tools: Use proper sewing machine screwdrivers and tools to avoid damage.

CAUTION! Note the order and orientation of parts for reassembly. Take photos if needed.

Lubrication Guide

Use only high-quality sewing machine oil (SAE 20).

  1. Oil Points: Apply one drop to each point marked on the lubrication diagram (see manual).
  2. Main Areas: Main shaft bearings, needle bar bushings, hook race, feed dog mechanism, presser foot bar.
  3. Frequency: After every 8 hours of use or as part of annual service.
  4. Wipe Excess: After oiling, run the machine slowly on a scrap fabric to absorb excess oil.

Tip: Do not over-oil. Excess oil can attract lint and stain fabric.

Timing Adjustment

Hook must meet needle at correct point for stitch formation.

  1. Set Needle at Highest Point: Turn handwheel to bring needle bar to its highest position.
  2. Check Hook Point: The point of the hook should be approximately 1/16" (1.5mm) above the eye of the needle.
  3. Adjust if Needed: Loosen hook drive gear set screw. Rotate hook slightly to achieve correct alignment. Retighten set screw.
  4. Test: Reassemble, thread machine, and test sew on two layers of fabric.

WARNING! Incorrect timing will cause skipped stitches, thread breaks, or needle strikes.

Bobbin Case & Hook Assembly

Proper installation is critical for stitch quality.

  1. Cleaning: Remove lint from bobbin case and hook race with a small brush.
  2. Insert Bobbin: Wind bobbin evenly. Place in case with thread pulling counter-clockwise.
  3. Install Case: Insert bobbin case into shuttle race until it clicks.
  4. Threading: Pull thread through tension spring and slot.
  5. Check Rotation: The hook should rotate smoothly without grinding or catching.

Needle & Presser Foot

Routine replacement and adjustment.

Needle: Use 15x1 needle. Insert with flat side to rear, tighten securely. Replace if bent or dull.

Presser Foot: Ensure foot is level. Adjust pressure via screw on top of machine—lighter for sheers, heavier for thick fabrics.
