Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a sturdy table or sewing cabinet.

  1. Remove machine from packaging: Carefully lift machine by its base, not by the handwheel or other parts.
  2. Attach foot pedal: Plug foot pedal cord into machine's motor port.
  3. Connect power: Plug power cord into machine and then into a 120V AC outlet.
  4. Install light bulb: If not pre-installed, screw in the recommended bulb.
  5. Oil the machine: Apply a drop of sewing machine oil to points indicated in the diagram before first use.

WARNING! Machine is heavy; lift with care to avoid injury. Ensure it is placed on a stable, level surface.

First-Time Operation

Power on machine; turn handwheel toward you to check for smooth operation.

  1. Wind the bobbin: Place spool on spool pin, thread through bobbin winder tension, and engage winder.
  2. Insert bobbin: Place bobbin in bobbin case with thread pulling counterclockwise.
  3. Thread the upper thread: Follow numbered threading path on machine from spool to needle.
  4. Draw up bobbin thread: Hold upper thread, turn handwheel to lower and raise needle, pull thread to bring up bobbin loop.
  5. Test sew: Place fabric under presser foot, lower foot, and gently press foot pedal.

CAUTION! Keep fingers away from moving needle. Always turn power off when threading or changing accessories.

Basic Sewing Techniques

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Daily: Brush out lint from bobbin area and feed dogs.
  2. Weekly: Oil machine as per diagram with sewing machine oil (2-3 drops on moving parts).
  3. Monthly: Check belt tension (if applicable) and clean motor vents.
  4. As needed: Replace needle after 8-10 hours of sewing or if damaged.

CAUTION! Always unplug machine before cleaning or oiling. Use only recommended sewing machine oil.
