Unpacking & Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place on a stable, flat surface.

  1. Remove machine and accessories from packaging.
  2. Attach the foot pedal: Plug into the power socket on the right side of the machine.
  3. Connect to power: Plug the power adapter into the machine and then into a wall outlet (120V AC).
  4. Install the needle: Loosen needle clamp screw, insert needle with flat side to the back, tighten screw.
  5. Attach presser foot: Lower presser foot lever, snap foot into place.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from the needle area during setup and operation. Ensure the machine is unplugged when installing the needle.

First-Time Operation

Plug in the machine and turn on the power switch.

  1. Wind the bobbin: Place thread on spool pin, guide through bobbin winder tension, press bobbin onto winder shaft, and engage winder.
  2. Insert bobbin: Open bobbin cover, drop in bobbin with thread unwinding counterclockwise.
  3. Thread the upper thread: Follow numbered guides from spool pin to needle.
  4. Raise presser foot and pull up bobbin thread: Turn handwheel toward you to bring up bobbin thread.
  5. Select stitch: Turn stitch pattern dial to desired setting.
  6. Test sew on scrap fabric.

CAUTION! Always start with the presser foot down and the needle in the highest position when threading or changing settings.

Threading the Machine

Correct threading is essential for proper operation.

  1. Raise presser foot and needle to highest position.
  2. Place thread spool on spool pin.
  3. Follow threading guides marked on machine: through tension discs, take-up lever, and finally the needle eye from front to back.
  4. Pull thread under presser foot toward the back.
  5. For bobbin threading, ensure thread winds evenly and in correct direction.

Tip: Keep the presser foot raised when threading to allow thread to seat properly in the tension discs.

Basic Sewing Techniques

Master these fundamental techniques.

  1. Straight Stitch: Select straight stitch pattern, adjust length as needed.
  2. Zigzag Stitch: For finishing edges or sewing stretch fabrics.
  3. Reverse Stitching: Press and hold reverse lever to secure stitches.
  4. Free Arm Sewing: Remove accessory tray to access free arm for sleeves and cuffs.
  5. Changing Presser Feet: Raise needle, press lever on back of foot holder to release.
  6. Adjusting Tension: Higher numbers for tighter tension; test on scrap fabric.

WARNING! Never pull fabric while sewing; let the feed dogs move it. Always turn handwheel toward you.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance.

  1. Unplug machine before any maintenance.
  2. Remove needle plate screws and clean lint from bobbin area with brush provided.
  3. Oil moving parts sparingly with sewing machine oil (not included) as per diagram in manual.
  4. Wipe exterior with soft, dry cloth.
  5. Replace needle regularly (after every 8-10 hours of sewing).

CAUTION! Do not use compressed air to clean lint as it can force debris into mechanisms. Never immerse machine in water.
