Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, flat surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and protective covers.
  2. Attach foot pedal: Connect pedal cord to machine port.
  3. Plug power cord into machine and then into 120V AC outlet.
  4. Install needle: Loosen needle clamp screw, insert needle with flat side to back, tighten screw.
  5. Attach presser foot: Raise presser foot lever, snap foot into place.

WARNING! Keep fingers away from needle area during setup and operation. Ensure machine is unplugged during needle installation.

First-Time Use

Power on machine; follow threading guide.

Threading & Bobbin Winding

Proper threading ensures smooth operation.

  1. Upper Threading: Follow numbered path on machine; use automatic threader by pushing lever down and hooking thread.
  2. Bobbin Winding: Place thread on spool pin, guide through bobbin winding tension, place bobbin on spindle, push to right, press foot pedal.
  3. Inserting Bobbin: Drop bobbin into case with thread unwinding clockwise; pull thread through slot and under tension spring.
  4. Drawing Up Bobbin Thread: Hold upper thread, turn handwheel toward you until needle goes down and up; pull thread to bring bobbin thread up.

WARNING! Ensure presser foot is raised when threading upper thread to open tension discs.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Unplug machine before maintenance. Clean lint and dust regularly.

  1. Remove needle plate: Use screwdriver to loosen screws, lift plate.
  2. Clean feed dogs and bobbin area: Use small brush to remove lint.
  3. Oil machine: Apply 1-2 drops of sewing machine oil to hook race and moving parts as per manual (do not over-oil).
  4. Wipe exterior: Use soft, dry cloth.

CAUTION! Do not use compressed air; it can force lint into mechanics. Use only Singer-recommended oil.
