Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Machine won't sew Not threaded properly, needle not inserted correctly Re-thread following numbered guide, check needle position
Thread bunching underneath Bobbin threaded wrong, tension too loose Re-thread bobbin, adjust bobbin tension slightly
Needle breaks Wrong needle type, pulling fabric too hard Use correct needle for fabric, let machine feed fabric
Uneven stitches Incorrect tension, dirty machine Adjust tension dial, clean lint from bobbin area
Machine makes noise Lint buildup, needs oiling Clean machine, add 1 drop of sewing machine oil
Fabric not feeding Presser foot up, feed dogs lowered Lower presser foot, check feed dog position

Common Issues & Solutions

  • Thread keeps breaking: Check for rough spots on needle plate, use better quality thread
  • Skip stitches: Change needle (dull needles cause skipping), ensure correct needle size
  • Machine jams: Remove fabric, turn handwheel backward to free mechanism
  • Light doesn't work: Check bulb connection, ensure machine is plugged in
  • Speed inconsistent: Clean foot pedal contacts, check power cord connection
  • Buttonhole doesn't form: Re-engage buttonhole lever, check stitch setting
